As I sit here reading articles and watching video’s of politicians and individuals talk about police “reform” I get infuriated! This morning I saw that Frankton (which is a town of Madison County) residents signed a petition to have the “All Lives Matter” decals removed on all police cruisers as it “undermines the Black Lives Matter movement” according to RTV6’s website page. One hundred residents signed this petition so the plan is for the decals to be removed. This is just another step in the wrong direction for our LEO’s. Key word here being “ALL,” which means ALL lives matter, color, race, nationality, religion does not matter. I don’t understand the anti-police rhetoric and hate towards the ones that keep us safe 24/7. Or do people do this simply because they want attention and their five minutes of fame in their local newspaper?

When will society start admitting that the problem with increased crime rates are the criminals themselves! Let’s talk about how many thugs kill other thugs, how many violent criminals kill innocent people every day in this country! Let’s talk about gangs killing gangs in the middle of the street, in front of small children, lets talk about school shootings/masacres from crazy people who walk around in our communities!

Who has to deal with all of these criminals and heinous acts of violence? THE POLICE! Who has to show up at your house when your spouse is beating the crap out of you? THE POLICE. Who runs into schools when there is a school shooting, protecting our educators and our students? THE POLICE. Who runs to pick up the dead bodies after there’s been a gang blow out in front of your house? THE POLICE.

So, NO ONE has the right to discount the men and women in blue who keep us safe day in and day out. How do people have the audacity to pretend they have ANY CLUE as to what LEO’s have to face everyday. We should be kissing the ground they walk on!

So I say to all of you cop haters, who are you going to call when you need something? Who are you going to call when you’re petrified that someone is breaking into your home? Oh, the police? Really? Since you hate them so much, maybe you should phone a friend instead.

I am a native Rhode Islander who is a wife, mother, sister, daughter and proud supporter of Blue Lives. My brother has been a police officer for the past 20+years and while he loves his job, the reality of it is, today's world is scary, times have changed and there is a continuous lack of respect for law enforcement. I am passionate about raising awareness on suicide prevention and mental health stigmas for police officers and first responder all over the country. I believe the more people talk about mental health, the less taboo it will be, espeically for the protectors.
