URI Mental Health/Suicide Awareness 5K

Blue Love was honored to be at the University of Rhode Island’s 5K walk/run to promote Mental Health & Suicide Awareness. It was a lovely day surrounded by so many like minded organizations and groups that share the same mission. #StoptheStigma We had a basket set aside for passerby’s to write a quick note of gratitude to our officers that we will include in our “Blue Love Bus Tours.” It was wonderful to see so many good people appreciate what we are doing and their willingness to write a thank you note without hesitation!

You can help too by continuing to talk about mental health and keep asking your loved ones if they are okay! If you want to help further, look for awareness events in your area. We are sure there are plenty. The only way to #stopthestigma is to talk about it!

As always, thank you all for your continued support in our mission to BACK THE BLUE!

I am a native Rhode Islander who is a wife, mother, sister, daughter and proud supporter of Blue Lives. My brother has been a police officer for the past 20+years and while he loves his job, the reality of it is, today's world is scary, times have changed and there is a continuous lack of respect for law enforcement. I am passionate about raising awareness on suicide prevention and mental health stigmas for police officers and first responder all over the country. I believe the more people talk about mental health, the less taboo it will be, espeically for the protectors.
